new shell

howdy homies,

I'm shopping for a shell to put on the back of my truck. I want a construction-type capper, with the wide back doors, and side access. I'm looking for used, since money is an object. How hard is it to wire in the lights? Most of them have an inside dome light and a brake light, which of course I want them to work.

thanks, cheerios, pip pip, n all that.

Their are a lot of different companies that make Caps in that configuration. if you are on a budget I would suggest an aluminum cap, Fiberglass can cost a grand pretty easy, adding side doors will jack up cost, wiring brakelight is easy, the dealer normally does this for you during installation, I like to run a seperate wire to battery for interior light, this way I don't have to turn on key to use light

I tapped into my trailer connector's hot lead for the interior lights and put them on a switch inside the shell. I wired the 3rd brake light off of the cab 3rd brake light circut. If you wire it off of one of the bed's brake lights, it will blink with the turn signal because the turn signal and brake lamp are on the same circut.

Thanks to both of you, that doesn't sound so bad. If it ever stops raining, I might get some work done, sheesh.
