Best way to improve MPG is to buy your gas in Canada.....

Gallons are 4.545 litrers, instead of 4.

Ours was 72.9 a few months ago.

My Ford is worth every penny. Gas to me is of no concern when I'm *110%* happy with my truck

(mind you, the extra money saved keeps the wifey happy, so I guess it's a toss up)

In our '97 scab 4 wd f150 we get consistantly 19 to 20 mpg. The truck is all stock w/ a tonneau cover (soft) and consistantly drive 60 to 65, mostly closer to 60
when towing a 20 foot travel trailer about 5000 lbs i get right at 7 to 8 mpg

I get between 13.1 and 14.5 city and highway mix.

Has anyone with a camper top done a comparison with it on and with it off? I'm considering getting one for a move across country.

Thanks Guys....You need ti tell with engine you have 4.6 or 5.4
I get 20 mpg with my 4.6 on the highway at 75 mph in town is 15.8mpg.
I am thinking of getting a travel trailer ( 5000 to 6000 lb ) and thought I may need to go to a larger engine ( 5.4 ) But now I think for the money I can just add a supercharger if I need more power. That way I will keep my good gas mileage when I am not towing

I have a 1998 f150 supercab with the 4.6L windsor and 3.55 gears and average about 10to12mpg in town and 18 to 21 on the highway if I drive about 65 to 70. After 70 about 15to16mpg. the only changes I've made are a K&N air filter and a soft tonneau cover with 120000 miles on it I dont think thats to bad. My brother has a 2002 chevy with the 6liter moter and he gets maybe 9 to 10 mph on the highway. man that has to suck

have a 99` lariate ext cab, 2wd, 3.55 limited slip, 5.4 with 148,000 miles on it...full syn valvoline oil, with me in it and the sand almost 800# in the short bed with toolbox accross the cab side of the bed. On the highway going speeds consistently (cruise) over 75mph I get greater than 19 on the highway going up in elevation from about 400 to over 800ft, pulling, not pulling, 19. I used to have the regular 5w-30....the syn does make a noticable difference, particularly in the city, where my average went from 13 to a bit over 15mpg.

2003 SCREW Lariat 4X2 with the 4.6 - Have been watching this since purchase due to the fact I drive close to 80 mi. commute per day...Overall getting 17.5 or so, added K&N Intake and still watching and checking the data...looks like a little increase so far, hit 18 last tank. Driving in Houston, mostly all highway, lots of stop and go but flat.

Do any of you notice that your gas mileage goes up as the weather warms up? Mine always seems to.
