Heater Problems

My 1999 f-150 5.4L is sick. But instead of having a temperature it has none at all. The problem is the heater, sometimes I have heat and cannot get it to switch to cold(usually hot outside when this happens); other times like today it's 35 degrees outside, with the blend control set to high heat it will not produce heat, I would be better off, rolling the windows down. The engine temp never moves out of normal temp range. The blend door motor is working when you turn the blend control **** from cold to hot and vise versa. However, Not sure if the blend door is actually moving. Is there a solenoid under the hood or behind the dash that could be sticking? Please help, it's cold.

It could be slipping on the shaft.
Are both heater hoses hot? No air in the system?
Coolant level full?

Thanks for the reply

I found out what the problem is. The Blend control door is shattered at the connection to the blend actuator. I called Ford and instead of being able to buy the $4 door, they can only sell the entire heater box at $250 bucks. It's alot of work for a broken $4 door. I've been working on it for six hours now, so anyone wanting to tackle this task should reconsider. thanks again for the reply.
