O2 sensor

Does any one know how and 86 will run with no o2 sensor. Will it run ok or will it run like krap

Pretty much run like crap. Computer has no way of knowing what the air fuel ratio is without an O2 sensor.

My 85 since i bought has no sensor. The truck runs fair and has it attitude, sucks on gas.Then again it will run

I thought the 86 was EFI, but just read that EFI started in 87 on the 4.9L. So please just ignore me, and I'll go sit quietly in the corner.

if its EFI, removing the o2 sensor is going to make it go into open loop mode to prevent it from getting too lean.

i'm not sure how it would work on a feedback carb tho...

86 was the launch year for the computer managed engine. I.E. the feedback carb and the EEC-IV. 87 I think is when Ford used Fuel Injection on the 4.9.

On the O2 sensor, I am not sure how it would affect the feed back carb. On the fuel injected it goes into open loop mode and the engine will run richer.
