Coolant filter worthwhile?

Are coolant filters worthwhile?

Anyone hear of a coolant product called Red line? I have yet to find a local store that stocks/cross references FW16 or DCA4. Is FW16 and DCA4 the name of a product or a description?

Any strong preferences as to brand name or type of coolant? I know it's suppose to be low silicon.

coolant filter

Reg,
If you go to www.dieselsitetoo.com click on coolants additives, then coolant filtration items then coolant filter install kit , you can see a picture of what his filter has removed. I don't have one installed yet but am planning on it in the near future. FW-16 and DCA-4 are the product names, FW-16 is Fords and DCA-4 is International. As far as coolant goes I changed using Internationals, any thing you can buy from international is usually cheaper than buying from Ford. I hope this helps.

Thanks,

It helps. It gives me a source and clarification.

My truck is used with 82,000 miles. I guess better late than never. A parts store down the street has a kit for $32.00 vice the $64.00 on the diesel site. I'll have to check out the differences.

Looks like I am going to become familiar with the International dealership.
