Engine lights?
I just picked up a hood from a 70-72 F250 to replace what's left of the one on my '67 and noticed a two light bulb housings mounted underneath the hood, in a central location. At first I thought it was a PO mod, but looking a little more closely I've noticed the old Ford scripting on the housings.
Does anyone know if these were an option, and if so how were they wired in? To the dome light, or was there a pin switch installed somehow?

Those sound like standard underhood lights. There's a built-in mercury switch that makes contact when the hood is lifted, completing an electrical circuit and illuminating the bulb. They should be hooked up to a constant hot power source, so they'll come on whenever you lift the hood.
