Has anyone upgraded from 6x8 to 6x9 speakers in the back of a regular cab? If you could share some pictures or let me know what you had to do to make them fit, I’d appreciate it!
I thought 6x9s would give a bit more low frequencies so I wouldn't have to add a subwoofer, but I've done some research and found a kit that seems to be exactly what I'm looking for in terms of audio quality. In the front, I'm going with Infinity Primus 503CF, and in the back, Infinity Primus 683F
From my experience, there won’t be a noticeable difference between the two. If you were to change from 6” round to either, definitely! It wouldn’t warrant the extra work needed to me. You can put the speakers in baffles to help it sound “fuller” with a little more bass. Essentially takes them from free air to a box. Either way, best of luck and hope you enjoy it! Infinity has been around for decades! I used their components in one of my competition cars back in the day.
Will you be using an amp or just powered off head unit?
My 1991 F-350 Super Cab has only factory speakers in the doors, a previous owner had run extra speakers to the back somewhere, they used ac lamp cord, that was left behind, but the speakers are gone, they probably had them under the back seat.
