c-4 shift issue
the c-4 transmission shifts correctly on a drive. if we move the shift lever to second gear any speed it won't down shift. it will go into first gear manually. we took the linkage off and made sure it was adjusted correctly. its not a big deal because we just stick it in drive and go. but there is a big hill near our house that second gear would be helpful. the fluid is cherry red and filled properly. the vacuum modulator works correctly because it shifts so nice on normal drives.

That trans should be 2nd only when in 2, and 1st only in 1.
But, you can only force the downshift at speeds appropriate for the resulting engine speed.
There is some kind of governing mechanism that prevents a 70 mph downshift to 1.
It shouldn't be so picky about 2.
Have you checked the linkage on the side of the transmission to make sure things are moving in synch?

Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Sounds like you have pistons stuck in their bores, likely due to metal shaving. It's done, pull the pan and drain the all the fluid, inspect for glitter.
