overdrive button

On my 1993 Ford F-150 XLT. 302 V-8. I was wondering is the overdrive suppose to be on all the time unless pulling a load? When you start the vehicle the overdrive is naturally always turned on. I was just curious about this. I usually drive all the time with it on and only turn it off when I am pulling a load. Is this the best thing to do for my transmission?

Same here that is what I do also. Someone told me that for cruising around town you should turn off the OD but i am unsure of this advise.

I leave it on sometimes around town but other times I take it off. It all depends on the speed I am at and if the trans is going in and out of overdrive often.

I leave mine on also. Someone once told me that it doesn't matter cruising around town (depending on speed) because it shouldn't shift into overdrive until around 40 or 45 mph.
