Name That Engine!

Hey, just for curiosity's sake, can this Y-block be identified by the valve covers? Not to sound stupid, but I've seen other Ys with different stock covers. I have a code sheet for the blocks, but haven't been able to go back to the yard where this one is located. It's a long drive. I'm looking for a 292 or preferably a 312 (who isn't?), but anyway...I added the pic to my gallery, since I'm an idiot and can't figure out how to attach it here!

If you mean the last pic in the gallery it is a Ford Y of unknown size. The valve covers are early style and the coil is 12V so anything is possible.
From the angle it also looks like a late 4bbl intake, the casting ID should be ECZ ****-B (I forgot the actual number!)

Yeah, I figured it was a long shot. I have a casting number chart to take with me, just need to get back down there!

Just a question. I agree the covers are the normal y-block covers, but where is the bypass on the thermostat holder? Does it go away when you use a 4barrel intake man.? Thanks, John

I dunno.

I was thinking of going to a 3-2 setup with the Y. So I'm the wrong person to know anything about a stocker Y....I'm still running a 351M. I tired 351M!
