performance mods?
I was wondering if anyone knew some ways to get a little exta from the 3.0. Just for ****s and giggles i would like to, ad does anyone know of performance parts for that aerstar?

You can do all the usual soup-up tricks: Start with a bigger throttle body, port the intake manifold, port the heads, machine them for bigger valves, get a cam with more lift and duration, and make some bigger headers and exhaust pipes. Oh yes, you need to reprogram the EEC to compensate for the increased air flow.
I don't think anyone has any of these off-the-shelf, so it's all custom work. Hi performance parts for Aerostars are pretty much non-existent, so you have to figure out ways to adapt parts made for other cars, such as a Ranger or Explorer.

How does it work?
In any engine, oil is always draining down into the pan from the top and being sloshed back up from the bottom. When the counterweights on your crank hit the oil, you get loss of power. In addition, you also get loss of power just from spinning the heavy crankshaft around. Knife-edging will reduce power lost from hitting the oil and also takes off several pounds of weight from the crank. You get higher RPM and better reliability.

There are some mods, but not much, Ranger 3.0 JBA headers may work, I think someone does a regrind on the cam, custom exhaust, custom intake pipe, clean up your MAF housing, 180* tstat (helps prevent pinging and keeps the engine a little cooler). The problem is that the 3.0's tb is incorporated into the intake, and is pretty restrictive. Headwork could to well too, and an electric fan would help power and economy.
