While you are waiting.....How To Run a Self-Test

The caveat is you have to count flashes and decode them. Your truck may display two or three digit codes, never both.

FIXED!!!

Well I believe it is fixed!!!! I purchased this truck back in April of 2021 from a family member, so I had knowledge of the trucks history. I know my family member attempted several repairs but I didn't know the extent. Apparently the Engine Control Module has been changed. I discovered that ECM 's are engine and transmission specific. After locating a PCM from a 1990, 5.8 with the AOD transmission, as of today, I'm glad to say the truck is running great and the transmission changes a lot smoother. Hopefully this is the fix. If not, I'll be coming back for more advice.

Thanks everyone for the advice and direction!!!!!!

Curious, can you shoot me a picture of the ECM you pulled out? May be interested in it.

does it have the stock catalytic converter? a plugged converter will cause THAT PROBLEM. Just saying there could be more than one problem.

I'd be curious, as to what inside, looked like. mine was doing weird, things, chasing my tail seemed, and found 2 burnt caps, no idle issue, no stupid shift issue.
