Hasn't happened to me but I'd be concerned the DPF is plugged. If that's the case, it could be an expensive fix. What year and how many miles?

Edit: I want to clarify that a plugged DPF is not the only thing that will turn on the light. Just to be clear. The computer looks for behaviors in the whole system based upon sensors. A plugged DPF will give you a "Drive Vehicle" warning before throwing a code.
