Years ago, those conditions helped me to turn down a job. I'd gotten an offer to run an IT team for Chevron. The only real downside was that it was at their headquarters in downtown Cleveland. I took the interview anyway and flew up Sunday night for a Monday interview. I'd lead off that Sunday by going to the beach with my (then) girlfriend and got sunburned pretty badly. By the time the plane landed, the sunburn hurt so bad that I could barely wear clothes. I went to the interview, they were all hopped up on me taking the job and recommended that I drive through several areas looking for a place to live. I drove toward one of them, said, "screw it", and headed for the airport. 30 degrees out, wet roads, ice and snow piled up on the side of the road, and it starts sleeting. My only thought was, "I'm sunburned so badly it hurts to wear clothes and I'm in this kind of weather? This Florida boy is going home. And not coming back!"

This appears to be one of those times when you reconsider going to work today. As my favorite old manager used to say, "Hello, boss? I'm too well to come into work today"!

ABS came in handy as the city only treated the main streets. I ALWAYS watch out for the other guy...fortunately at 0500 hours there is very little traffic.
Good suggestion...but...it's not really an option to call out of "work"...been late a few times...but...never called out. I'm not sure how anyone can stand Florida year round.
