I have an older Android Galaxy S6 phone and my wife connected it to my 2020 F150's bluetooth and it did fine. The second time I turned on bluetooth it seemed to do ok until I turned off my phones bluetooth and that's when the Sync screen froze up. I could not turn anything on or off. An hour or so later when I got back in and started the truck everything was fine. I guess my question is...is there something that's not updated...maybe my phone...or the trucks Sync 3? How would I know? Or did I do something wrong? I might also add I am not at all tech savvy.
Thanks in advance.
The Bluetooth protocol is famously complicated. There are more ways to make it right than to make it wrong. I have had occasional BT issues with my 2015, as well as various different kinds of BT headphones and earbuds. When did you get your S6? It was released back in 2015 or 2016, so there may be some issues there as well. Unless it's a constant thing, I would just chalk it up to a temporary glitch.
I'm thinking I got this phone used in '17. My last truck...the '17 Silverado did fine until I used BT the second time and then all hell broke loose. Numerous Service this or that messages, truck not starting, doors not unlocking, running rough. Needless to say I'm a bit gun shy using BT on anything now.

The biggest issue here may be the age of the phone. As GlueGuy implied, a 5-6 year-old Android device is going to have more complications with these things, since the protocols and apps have been significantly updated in the last couple of years.
Here's the thing: if you have BT in the vehicle, you shouldn't need to turn it off to use AA. Nearly all vehicles with Sync and Sync-like entertainment systems require the use of BT to pair the vehicle to the mobile device. Android Auto requires a USB connection because the app is "basically" (loaded term) mirroring the capabilities of the mobile device to the Sync system. Ford (and other manufacturers) have to code their systems to make them talk to the AA functions in the phone. (Unlike Apple CarPlay, much of which uses embedded hardware in the vehicle head units).
I also have a 2020 STX with Sync 3. I have a OnePlus 7Pro (from 2019) that has worked very well with this vehicle and AA. I have had occasional issues, but nothing that could not be fixed with a tweak to an app or a setting.
Don't turn off the Bluetooth. Sync wants to use and and AA will works with it in some capacity.

Ok. I guess I'm just gun shy because my last truck...a 2017 Silverado had issues after using BT a couple of times. I took it to the dealer multiple times and they could not find anything wrong. Guess I'm just afraid of going through all of that again. I'll admit, I'm an old fogy with not much knowledge in todays high tech stuff.
