Engine Temperture Range
Guages in my Explorer are non operative. I have a meter plugged into my returnside of my radiator but do not know what the acceptable engine temperature ranges are. I was on a hill in stop and go traffic and the engine climbed from 205 to 220 F. Is this too hot? One person told me that the Explorers are designed to run hot and that 210 is about the normal temperature and that shutdow temperature was 250 F. Explorer runs right at 185 - 190 F sitting flat, in park, at idle.
