NHTSA recall 20V-332

Those of you with 2015/16 trucks may want to be aware of this. My trucks braking has degraded to the point where I was about to order new brake parts. Looks like it will be making a trip to the dealer. I guess I might as well get a brake job done while they’re doing that.

Why would they use a different brake master cylinder on the 3.5 Ecoboost than all of the other power train F-150's...seems kinda weird

Turbo charged engines have vacuum, There is only positive manifold pressure when the engine is accelerating, when the engine is in a decreasing rpm mode it has manifold vacuum just like a non turbocharged engine. So when applying the breaks the engine rpm is decreasing producing manifold vacuum

They use a 1 way valve to prevent boost from entering the brake booster system, it only allows flow in one direction...vacuum

Nope. The brake booster isn't tied to the engine on these trucks. The early 2011-12 trucks have a electric pump behind the drivers headlight. The 13+ use a cam driven vacuum pump on the engine.

I am not saying they have a vacuum booster tied to the manifold, all I said was that even turbo charged engines produce vacuum and those that do and have have a 1 way valve if they are using a manifold vacuum brake booster

They just did my 2015 Monday for this recall. I had no problems on my old cylinder. About an hour wait.

Recall?

We have the 3.5L EcoBoost, but we have not gotten this notice. Does that mean we are free and clear, or should I bring it up with our local dealer?

Call the dealer service dept and ask them to check by your VIN. I got the letter based on my VIN. It’ll probably take a week or two for all of the letters to be delivered.
