Ignition Issues

Needing help with a crank but no start issue.

Truck is a 1984 F150 4.9 inline 6.

Truck was starting and running fine about a week ago before I took off the dash cluster to install new bulbs. While I was behind there, I went ahead and took out the non-functioning aftermarket cruise control that was installed.

I don’t remember exactly which wires were cut, but I disconnected (cut) what I believed to be the wiring for the cruise control, but what I now think must have been wires from the ignition coil to the ignition control module.

I’ve been rifling through both the Chilton and Haynes manuals, but either what I’m seeing is not what I think it is or the previous owners changed more than I suspected. I cannot seem to find the ICM to where I need to connect the wires from the ignition coil.

The purple box is what I believe to be the ignition control module and I attempted to connect the ignition coil via the

two wires pictured to no avail.

The battery was just replaced yesterday, I did checks on the ignition coil and resistor, the carb and fuel system is functioning properly. Everything is pointing tothese two wires, but I have no clue what to do with them.

Also, and help in cleaning up this mess of an engine bay would be much appreciated. There seems to be a lot of connections that are arbitrary and incomplete. I’ll post more pictures if necessary.

Thanks in advance.

See that rectangle thing with the white plug on it mounted on the distributor? That is your ignition control module.

Surprised no one caught this. The first thing you need to do is fix the wiring at your coil. The connections are shot.
