Diagnostics Tool
Does any one know what type of diagnostics tool is used to read the Service Engine Codes? What is the exact location of the OBD 1 connector?

There are a variety of scanners available ranging from around $100 to many thousands. I opted for one built into the Superchips tuner. The port is under the dash on driver's side.

I would like to read the one that is easier to access. I want to know the type of communication used to send the messages/codes (i.e. CAN or J1939 or J2284 etc.).

1996 and newer vehicles use the OBD II system.
