Check engine light

Check engine light
My 87 F150 has no check engine or engine light. The little windows are there in the dash but there are no bulbs or holders behind them. Is this normal for these trucks or am I maybe missing a code or two my computer might want to be telling me?

Check engine light
Your truck should have a check engine light on the left side of the steering wheel. It should be below the dash lense and not incorporated within the speedometer guage cluster.

It's there but there's no bulb or holder behind it at all.

Check engine light
Its an 87 truck with a 88 351 , Correct ? The usual cause of the missing bulbs is someone removed them because they were on & they didnt want to fiddle with whatever the problem may have been . Do you know what engine originally came in the truck ?

I did the engine change myself. It was originally a 302 and is still running on the 302 computer. There are no obviously cut wires or anything. If it had a light before, surely a bulb holder would still be in there? It would be a lot of work to go that far to hide something. The truck has a build date of March 87. It had been run on propane before but I don't see that as being any reason to remove the check engine light.

Check engine light
I found out on a later thread that the bulbs insert into printed circuit board. I added bulbs to mine but they're not lighting up at all. I don't know if its a different style bulb or not, I haven't had time to check yet.
