I have the socket in my Amazon cart because I also need to order the hole saws. Looks like I need a 4-1/4", 3" & 2-1/8", does that sound right?

I was just looking at mine while you posted this & the front of the bed looks really close to the cab. Did you have to lift & then slide the bed back? It doesn’t look like it will lift high enough to slide a 4x4 in place without moving back & then what about the rear plastic trim piece under the tail lights between the bumper?

I actually put a few layers of blue tape on bed and cab edges and was able to lift straight up.

Great thanks, I’ll do the same or the suggestion above with shop rags or both!

Hoping to do mine Saturday, does anyone remember what size torx the couple of bolts are? I stopped at Home Depot to get one and the biggest they had was a T-55 and it was too small.

Which torx bolts are you referring too? The 2017 & newer trucks use that funky EP 24 torx socket for bed bolts & the old trucks used a standard torx bolt for the bed bolts that’s under a T-55 for sure. I don’t remember what the size was but my set only goes up to T-55 & I tightened one of my bed bolts about a month before I traded it in.

A couple of the bolts that were included with the prep system are torx, and their bigger then a 55.

Interesting, glad you mentioned those because I don’t have my kit yet & was unaware. Not sure of the size but my Snap On set only goes up to 55, maybe try a Napa auto parts store?

T-60 is the next common size up, hopefully you(we) can find one locally in a Sears or Auto Parts store.

Planning on hitting Napa and any other auto parts store tomorrow after work. I’ll let ya know what I find out. I looked through the instructions, but it doesn’t say anything about the tools needed other then the torx for the bed bolts.

I’m doing the same install on my ‘13 but I also have a large Westward torx bit kit. I believe you should be looking for a ‘plus’ size, designated by 50IP, maybe TP50, etc. It’s a significant amount of more meat on a plus-sized bit/bolt, check the image for the difference.

For what it’s worth, I’m installing the Reese aftermarket puck kit on my truck and the bit used was T50IP - meaning internal plus size 50.

Hope that helps.

Thx for the info, do you think Napa or another parts store carry this, or do I need to look elsewhere?

If it's the torx plus bit then yes my local Napa lists it as available to pickup.
