Wiring problem

I bought a 74 F100 recently. The guy I bought it from did a pretty bad job on the wiring though. He had replaced the fusible link that was between the starter selenoid and the regulator with a wire w/ a fuse holder with a 30 Amp flat fuse in it. He said he never had a problem with it. I replaced the voltage regulator because the battery wasn't charging and now it charges, but when you give it some acceleration and the voltage starts to rise and at 13.6 volts it blows the fuse. When the fuse blows it knocks out pretty much everything but the ignition (truck keeps running). The previous owner looks like he hooked up about 4 wires to the fuse. It blows the fuse everytime though just by pushing on the gas pedal. Does the fuse sound to small in amperage or did the previous owner just hook it up completely wrong? Please help

Thanks
Chris

From: lino lakes, mn
is the fuswe the only thing between the solinoid and alt wiring or do all the other supplies come of the fused side according to the "book" vehcle suppy wires are not fused through the link just the soilinoid if you have the light the feeds come off thye solinoid if you have a gauge the feeds are sp-liced in BEFORE the fuse
