Nitto Exo Grappler vs Ridge Grappler or other?
61,000 kms on my Nitto Exo grappler 35x11.50R20 tires. 7mm left on rears, 5mm on fronts - 2017 F350. Pretty much all highway except pulling 30ft sled trailer up and down logging roads. They've seen hard packed snow and sheer ice. On the hard packed snow they have done pretty good with the trailer behind it. Never felt the need to chain up. In unpacked snow they have impressed me except on one occasion when I got stuck on level ground in a gravel parking lot with 6" - 8" of snow with loaded sled trailer. Locked in 4x4 and still couldn't move without being pushed out. On sheer ice highways they slip but that's to be expected without chains or studs. I picked these over KO2's or duractac. They don't chuck rocks, they ride nice and the noise on highway isn't bad. I like the idea of the 3 peak winter rating so I'm considering getting another set of these or the Ridge Grappler. Has anyone had experience with both? I'm really curious about the ridge grappler in hard packed snow/ice. I don't like the KO2 because I ran the BFG all-terrain and they threw rocks like crazy in my experience and they look like a similar tread pattern to the KO2 so I'm expecting them to throw rocks too. The duractrac doesn't come in a 35x11.50R20 and the 12.50 would rub. If you have any experience with other all-terrain tires I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.
