My son rolled our excursion today. Laid it on the right side. Still runs and drives but the whole pas side is a gonner as well as the roof (buckled by the C pillar). I'm checking to see if anyone has a shell left over from a project or ??? Maybe it's time to turn your ole' gal loose? Not looking for another smashed or a rot case. Only interested in a clean body. Pretty sure any X body should work as I plan to switch all our parts over including my driveline. Would prefer if includes doors as ours are toast.
Bit about our X... 2000 Limited 7.3 4x4 148,000 Dk green/tan, Tan leather interior bucket/bench/bench. Located in North East WI but will travel for reasonable clean unit. Please PM with offers or leads. Thanks, Dennis
Reach out to Canyon Rider. I've already contacted him about parting out his donor, and he's a little resistant to the idea until his project is done, but he might make an exception in your case since he's already used the opposite side of what you need (see picture #8 on his post)
There is a very nice 2000 body at the Gold Mine down here in Austin, TX...Engine, tranny gone...both rear doors there and axles under it. 2WD. Maroon in color. All glass is there. barn doors and hatch are at my house already
Southwest salvage in Lockport IL had 3 Ex's a month ago, not sure what they look like. I was looking for the grey/parchment interior and all of theirs had the tan color, so I didn't go look at them.
Worth giving them a call as they are not to terribly far from you. A couple hours south of you down near I-355 and I-80.
Ok Folks,
First of all I want to say a huge thank you all. Keep the info coming. I love "The Brotherhood" here on FTE. I have some really good leads to work with. My body and paint guy is willing to fix this body or swap it out so at this point either a complete body or just parts is all still in play. We may pick up another X to run while this one is under reconstruction as well. So much to do and decide...
I spoke at length with the case manager from our insurance about options as well. She stumbled a bit when she looked up the fair market value. I think she had a little sticker shock. She did say She will work the numbers for the buy back as well so its all in the works but will no doubt take a little longer because of the holiday weekend.
Thanks again to you all. I'll try to keep you all informed.
