I love a new, clean degass bottle.
I had actually been wondering what "tip off" of a new bottle would suggest myself. Late 2016 my OE water pump started leaking from the weep hole, the weep cap was gone too, so not only did I order a new pump, but a radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, coolant temp sensor, fan blade, silicone upper and lower hoses, and coolant bottle.. OCD?, Check..!!

The implication being that the old degas bottle was replaced to cover up oil mixing with the coolant, or a leaking head gasket that cracked the degas bottle.

I saw a youtube video or forum post (can't remember, it was 5+ years ago) about a guy that bought a car with a brand new degas bottle full of good coolant, with "recent coolant flush" in the ad.. Turns out the seller had blown the head gasket, coolant was full of oil... Seller then filled it back up with a mix of BS and oil stabilizer to keep it from knocking through the test drives. The crown jewel on this was that they sealed off a new degas bottle with silicone, filled it with new coolant, ran the hoses, and called it a day.

Phoenix is correct. If the degas bottle is the ONLY thing that was replaced and every thing else is old and dirty: be very skeptical and have a mechanic look at it.

Eh, while I would be mindful and have due diligence, I myself have replaced them just because the new ones look so much better. I still want to replace the old dingy one on my old '99, and I don't even have to look at that one anymore because my son drives it!

I thought about the oil mix after I had responded, I noticed that that system isn't under pressure, so I guess the bottle cannot handle the pressure from the blown head gasket.

I have received stuff that I had bought from someone that shipped the items by greyhound. It's not too bad as long as they are willing to ship by greyhound.

I shipped by greyhound. It's not bad if you have a terminal near by. It will be slow & there's no tracking, So if they lose it or it sits at a terminal they have no idea where it is. Everything got the fine just not fast.

Yes, best way is to buy the space on GH through BusFreight.com. Cheaper than GH directly. I shipped 4 wheels from UT to MI for $104.

Thanks for the tip. Saved me about $40. And yes I bought that set. Might need to touch up the clear coat on one rim but otherwise was a pretty decent deal I think. And I like them better then the Harley style rims.
