Description:
Up for your consideration is my '72 Thunderbird. It is a project, but it is all there and saveable.
400 V8 motor. True "S" code car, not your typical "N" code 429. There were only 2,006 of these cars made in early '72. The motor is out of the car. The short block is half rebuilt. Stock pistons and rods, new Clevite bearings, new Isky RV cam, new moly rings, new high volume oil pump, new straight up timing set, new high flow water pump. Regasketed using felpro gaskets. Shortblock needs to be painted, but that's the easy part. The heads need to be rebuilt. I have ARP studs for them, as well as comp cams roller rockers (stock ratio), pushrod guides, hardened pushrods, and chrome valve covers. The stock 2bbl manofd and an aluminum Edelbrock 4bbl manifold are included. I have all the pulleys for the motor as well.
The C6 transmission shifted fine when the car was parked 2 years ago. Fluid is still red and full.
New U joints front to back.
The rear end is the famed 9". Highway gears in it. I believe the ratio is 2.75:1.
New brakes end to end, drums, shoes, hardware and hose in the rear, then rotors, pads, calipers, and hardware in the front. Rotors are rusty from sitting but can be turned to have that ground off. New front wheel bearings and seals as well.
All new KYB shocks at all 4 corners, as well as Moog tie rods up front. I replaced the pitman arm, drag link, passenger side steering pivot along with the inner/outer tie rods on both sides. I have also replaced the upper control arm bushings as well.
The car rides on the stock rims with 15" tires. The tires are decent, but the two of them are a bit low on tread. Stock wheel covers are included.
The body is decent. The floors and trunk are solid. The front fenders have some rust in them from old body work done by the prior owner. The doors are solid, as is the hood and trunk. All the glass is present, bit the windshield is cracked. The engine bay is freshly painted. It used to be yellow with a brown top and brown interior, it is currently light blue, white top, blue interior.
The interior is good. The seats were reupholstered, and the carpet is useable. There is no headliner again thanks to the prior owner. The radio has been removed, but I have it.
This car must be seen to appreciate. I've tried everything I can think of to sell this car. I need it gone to a good home because I'm moving in a couple of months and can't take it with. It will need to be towed away, so bring a trailer.
The price is $1,200. No trades considered, and cash only. I'm open to reasonable offers. Tire kickers and time wasters will be deleted. Please do not contact me unless you are serious and have the money in hand.
I added the extra zeros at the end of the VIN so I could post it on this site (it didn't like the 12 digit Vin I entered)
