Tuning and emission checks?
Point was just raised in the Adams family forum of the 6.4.
Never saw anything relevant to this yet.
If you live in a emissions testing state and you have a tuner, do you have to pull the tune or can you select a stock tune option and fly by without a tuner hysterectomy?

Each state differs as to what kind of test and how it’s adminesterd. . When I lived it Georgia you could get by running a “stock tune” on the programmer just take it out while testing. Where you would run into the issue was there was a throttle test(can remember the exact name). So when they hit the go pedal fast if your car/truck produced any black smoke it failed. Also they could take a mirror and look along the bottom for missing emissions equipment. Look into the county you live in and what kinda testing they do. A lot of times our trucks are exempt, but not all.

if they check emmissons you need the DPF and EGR.
and I am not going to encourage you to go to the emissions test with only 5 gallons of clear kerosene because running on clear 100% kerosene just to subvert the emmissons test would be unethical and most folks would have conscious problems as they slap a "pass" sticker on your windshield.
no, no I can not endorse that practice.
