Pretty sure it will fit a shortbed. Much of what I find says '53 to '72 interchange for shortbed flaresides. They had some differences as OEM, but fit the same. Other source says '57-''72.

53-72 flareside tailgates
Is the better tailgate still available? Do you have other parts? I need 2 operational door handles, they need to be old and pitted. If I can’t find 2 matching door handles I can use 1 good push button to make mine work. New ones will look out of place.
