I found 73 F100 360 automatic 4x4 i would like to use as parts truck for the conversion on my 75 F250 4x4 manual/ divorced transfer case. It looks like i can bolt it right up with minimal fab work. If you guys think it will work i plan on taking out the automatic/transfer case in F100 and dumping my manual/divorced transfer case in the Highboy.

My question is there a difference in transmissions used on 1/2 ton verses 3/4 ton trucks? A C4 is C4 should work on my F250 behind the 428 i have bolted in? Correct?

All FE engines (352, 360, 390, 427, and 428) have the same bellhousing bolt pattern. The 428 is the only one that is usually externally balanced but that can be changed if/when you rebuild the engine.

Just use the correct flexplate. That is where the balancing was controlled by the factory. It will have a specific weight welded to it that most FE flexplates won't have.

You can tell the flywheel because on the back side it will have a large piece of pie showing(that is the added weight cast into it).

You also can not use the 428 flywheel on the 360

Thank for reply.
After pricing different options. I’m leaning toward NV 4500. If I stay with divorced transfer case I don’t have to worry about the speedometer since it’s cable connected to transfer case.
The only problem I need to work out is how and what brand of hydraulic clutch setup I’m need? Anyonyone done a hydraulic setup for FE bellhousing?

Why do you need a hydraulic clutch if your using the FE bellhousing.
