Question 96 ford gets stuck in snow.

Hello my name is Vince I have 1996 f150 when i pulled out of drive the left tire was in a snow pile and right was on pavement. I was unable to get out of snow till i removed the snow. the rear axle has a code of 19 on the door.

Welcome. You have what is called an open differential and that makes your truck next to useless in the winter. Some weight(200-300lbs) in the bed will help as will proper snow tires.

This is the 1st year i didn't have my fiberglass cap for weight. I also put 16" tires and rims from a dodge ram that i cut the centers out to fit my ford. What i want to do is replace the rear end with a ls rear end. what i have found on the internet is that i want a h9 code for limited slip. I want to get the same gear ratio but finding out that the charts I've found have the ratio as a 355,373, and 411 which is what i thing i have in my truck. Besides the diff tag what else do i need to look for when at the junk yard?
