The engine is 5/100 but I purchased the extended because at Year 5 my truck only had 46,000 miles. Plus I wanted extended coverage other than motor. Especially the trans, radiator, electrical, fuel system, DEF system all are covered.

Extended warranty options for a 2013 w 64k? Is Ford still an option or is it aftermarket at that point?

Can’t help you with that question, Maybe some one online could help. You could call Ford Warranty Dept with the VIN number to find out. Personally I’d opt for a 2015 with the upgraded Turbo and Brakes that can have the extended warranty available. I’m reading the 15’s has some upgrades over the 11-12 models.

Understood, thanks again. Yeah, cant swing a 15, I want to be closer to 40k with lower miles. 15 @ that range would put me in higher milage category. I dunno, I look around and see what the options are. I did see a platinum 15 in Fla that I liked.

Hey Corey, I have owned 7.3's in both the OBS 97, and Superduty 2000, and both were lifted. I can tell you that your concerns about gearing with either 35's or 37's with the new 6.7 are nothing to worry about! The new truck will most likely have 3.55's, and the power/torque is incredible in comparison with the 6.7's.

I ran 37's on my 2000 7.3 for quite awhile with the stock 3.73's, then I upgraded to 4.30 gears and it really woke that up. I was like you, concerned about gearing when searching for a 6.7. Well I'm running 37's again, but now on 3.55's on my 2011, and gearing is not an issue.

Also......I wouldn't rule out a nice 2011 with some miles on it. There are clean ones out there. I just bought mine a couple months ago, with 109k on it, and I got a full carfax report, and receipts from day one from the original owner, and my truck has the same history as many others on here. A couple egt sensors, a factory re-flash....and that's IT. Don't ignore the 11's, I see many on here bashing them, and it is simply not true for the "entire year" on them, there are plenty of great ones as well. Good luck on your truck hunt!

Morning Travis, thanks for the advise; I’ll heed your words and read a little more. I’ve got some pretty strict guidlines for what I’m looking for that rules out a lot of trucks. I ether want a all dark green or all black Lariat or Platinum with black interior and the 40 center console 40, crew cab, srw, 8’ bed, 4x4. So expanding the year range would help...

2015 was the big upgrade based on issues identified from 2011-2014 MY. The upgrades include;
400HP/860 Ft Lbs Torque
Turbo upgrade to Garrett T37
Cobra head downpipe
HP Fuel pump upgrade
Injector upgrade
Additional material was added to the cylinder heads and a new five layer MLS (Multi-layer Steel) gasket created
New polymer coating on main bearings for improved wear- and-tear durability and lower friction.
Improved crankshaft fillet design – the transition point between the crankshaft’s journals – to increase crankshaft power carrying capability.
Increased crankshaft damper weight to reduce rotating forces on the crankshaft when the engine is performing at peak power levels.
Added material to the exhaust manifold and valvetrain to handle increased power levels.
Redesigned turbo oil and cooling lines to improve sealing.
Piston assembly upgrades to increase load-bearing capability.
New four-layer exhaust manifold gasket for improved durability
Upgraded torque converter

2016 is the last year for an all steel body

Upgrades are designed to stay ahead of the hp/torque war. The 2015 redesign is said to be capable of safely handling 700hp and 1400 ft lbs torque stock. It has since shown that the weak link is the fuel pump and more precisely fuel flow. Stock fuel pump is capable of attaining ~500 RWHP at WOT or ~575 RWHP for very short duration at WOT.

Very good to know, I’m no hp junkie but I do like adiquite power, my 7.3 is tuned but not intercooled and its really not that impressive. My brother in law just bought a 6.7 and I was impressed with its towing in stock form. I dont think I’d need to tune the truck but I’ll never say never lol. I have included 15s in my search. My budget is my real holdback.

I’ve had a ‘12 and now have a ‘16. Both trucks have plenty of HP. The big difference for me is the exhaust brake for towing down the mountains. My 12 handled it, but the 16 brake makes it a bit better. The 12 got a little better fuel economy.
