Good morning Ken and Pat. I can't fit any more logs into the stove... But no frozen pipes yet. All the work we did too improve winterization two years ago is paying off. Furnace is still running full time trying to keep up but the house is a lot more pleasant than it used to be.

We have baseboard hot water heating with a fairly new Buderus boiler. 86% efficiency which for oil is about as good s you can get. The wood stove supplements very nicely in the living room.

And...that surprises you how???

I've also got oil fired baseboard hot water...I've been checking out new systems for the past few years. My current one is 30 years old. Might go to mini splits to get the added benefit of A/C.

We have a natural gas furnace. Not many of those boiler systems around still here.

Howdy winter lovers.........

I've got natural gas too...... Now, how do I pipe that to the furnace....

The heat wave has hit Montana..... +25*F with 20-25 mph winds from the SW.

1st day of school........ Theresa and Lynn headed out just a little bit ago. Kimber is napping..... The house id quiet......
Coffee is good...

Unfortunately no natural gas here and probably never will be. Mini splits have some nice features. If we didn't have such a big old house we might be able to get by with heat pumps or a ground deep well system but for now we have what we have. Furnace is only 5 years old and still top of the line for efficiency so we just grin and bear it when winter sets in and the oil man comes by.

I'll be looking for the most efficient system I can get...natural gas is pretty cheap in comparison to oil...and...a lot more convenient.

Good morning Roy. You must be in shorts too. Nice balmy day there. Hope you don't get sunburned.

Snow here squeaks really well - a sure sign it is cooler than normal. Quiet here for a while but youngest daughter broke a bone in her foot yesterday so we'll be babysitting the grand kids this PM. They have one more day off and she needs to stay off the foot as much as possible.

Say hi to Theresa and Lynn for us. Will never forget all the hospitality.

I usually see frosts early but don't get the real cold like you lowly valley dwellers see
