Driver's Battery Leaking (check yours) Corroded Cables Disintegrating Clamp
#256
Well, I decided I wasn't going to play the warranty jousting with Ford over replacement of a couple of crap batteries with new crap batteries. My hold-down brackets on the passenger side began corroding recently so I quickly got a pair of Odyssey 65-1750T's on order. I first tried to order from Autozone, but like Rodney, I found them to be out of stock when they canceled my order after a few days. Despite paying a good bit more, I ordered through Amazon and one arrived yesterday. The second one should have arrived at the same time, but for whatever reason they weren't delivered together. #1 is installed now with a freshly painted hold-down bracket. Hopefully, #2 will be here today as an empty battery tray is waiting. P.S. I have the Medium Duty Battery package on my 6.2 XLT.

Good work Kyle. I found when replacing my OE leaker with the dealer replacement that the new one was leaking only a couple weeks later. So, the AGM route is justified. What I don't understand is why this is a 2017+ issue? The 11-16 trucks don't seem to have this issue... at least not to the extent of how many failures I'm seeing on the current gen.

I have no experience with the previous generation Super Duty as this truck replaced a 2004 Ram Cummins (great truck!). On that Ram, the stock MOPARs lasted about six years, but by the time I caught the corrosion, it had taken out my passenger side negative cable.
IMHO, Ford completely took the cheap road on the battery selection for these trucks. In this day and age, there's no reason to not install sealed/maintenance free AGMs from the factory.

Great question, but now that I think about it, I believe I've only had one OEM battery in all the vehicles I've owned that didn't eventually leak (2004 4Runner - Panasonic battery).

Wife had 2008 Toyota. 4 Runner. OEM Panasonic battery. Couple of times dead because lights left on. 10 years, never a problem. Could not believe it. Finally replaced as wife's car and did not want her stranded. If my vehicle, I wanted to see how long it lasted. Great battery.
Looks like my second Odyssey should arrive today.

I ran AGM's in my 5ver Scott but not Odyssey. I went with a pair of Lifeline 6v units that were an amazing deep cycle battery. Like Odyssey, they were big bucks though.

The LifeLine GPL4CT is their smaller 6v unit. I ran two in series. If you don't need that type of capacity they also have 12v units that you can run as a single. I always had the intention to add two more but didn't really boondock enough to need the additional capacity and loose the storage space. On an RV I love AGMs as you can build a bank anywhere and not worry about venting.
