New 302 won't start after warmed up

I used a cheap code tester this morning and the only thing it points to is the Throttle Position Sensor. I bought one and tested each of them to compare ohms and all readings were almost exactly the same. I have not installed it yet and was hoping to hear more back here at the Ford forum.
I can get the truck to start "when it's HOT" if I spray gas or starter fluid into the air intake. Not my favorite thing to do so I am still looking for what is causing this to happen.

Throttle Position Sensor did not work. I have looked at the fuel lines and they look plenty far enough away from heat. Will Test further though.
Any other ideas? ASC certified techs are stumped.

I was just wondering if you found the problem yet as I had similar problems and was not getting any power to my high pressure fuel pump or the injectors. Ford Garage put on ignition switchat bottom of steering column and an EEC valve and got it running but mine still wants to shut down after driving about 10 miles. Ford mechanics still can`t figure it out

just out of curiosity, i know that it isnt carburated so it shouldnt make a difference, but does it start if you hold the throttle open or even to the floor? i know you shouldnt have to do this but i was wondering b/c it might rule something out hek if i know what.
i had to do this a few times on mine but it was a different problem with the tps and idol air valve.
the heating up of the fuel lines makes sense b/c my father in laws car vapor locked when it got too hot from the faulty thermostat.
but i dont think that is your problem b/c u can drive it all day long til u shut it off.

I have tried the gas peddal to the floor and no change. Still has an issue starting when heated up. FYI it smells like it is flooded when I shut it off HOT. Also it does not have to cool off much before it will start soq

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? Also you may want to put a gauge on the schrader valve to rule out fuel supply on a hot start.
Good luck

pull the vac line off the fuel pressure reg to see if any gas might be coming out, maybe even check to see if any vac lines might be cracked ? worth a shot. i assume temp is normal otherwise? is there anyway to check these computers? i have a extra out of my 93 5.0 AT that i am not looking to get rich off of if that is the case. but i think it is something else. fuel press and reg sounds like a start

I didn't read the whole thread, so I apologize if I am repeating someone here. You said it smells flooded, if the injectors are not sealing completely, they will leak gas into the engine and flood it after you shut it off . This is one of the symptoms of dirty injectors. You may be able to tell by watching a fuel pressure guage when you turn off the engine to see if the pressure leaks down quickly.

that makes a lot of sense, i never would have thought of that. it will start after the fuel leaks down or the cylinder dries out, will the plugs be wet?

I would expect the plugs to be wet, and you would smell gas out the exhaust while cranking. I guess it would be easy enough to pull a plug and test it.

New 302 won't start after warmed up

i have the same hot start problem:

"so i have a 92 bronco 302 with an msd6offroad ignition, msdblaster2 coil, a K&N FIPK, bosch platinum +4 plugs, accel8.8mm wires, a bosch 02 sensor, a helix bore throttle body, new IAC valve solenoid, new egr valve sensor, stock exhaust manifold, and a pacesetter turbo muffler exhaust.
my first problem is a high indle in neutral and park. the car will start as high as 2000rpm when cold and will not go below 1450rpm regardless of engine temp. when in gear with brakes on it idles at around 900rpm.
my other problem occurs intermittently, usually when the engine is still warm. i will start the motor succesfully and it will die after about 4-10 seconds of running. immediately after attempts to start wil just keep cranking. the motor will usually start after a minimum of 20-30 mins. sometimes when i have this hot start engine stall it will diesel after it has died for a while or until i turn the ignition to the off position.
i have asked countless people/mechanics and nobody really seems to know what it is. does anybody out there have similar problems on their modified 302 with bank fire speed/density eec-iv? "

suggesgtions ive gotten:
check TPS readings
change coil
change plugs

this stuff is driving me insane
