6.7 or 3.0 Diesel?
I'm in the market for a new truck (My early model 08 6.4 is something I would like to part with) and I'm torn between getting a 6.7 F350 or the new 3.0L diesel F150 they're coming out with in spring.
I'd save around 15k on the purchase price, and the 3.0L is going to get around double the MPG over the 6.7 (if we assume the 3.0L is at least the same as the Ram 1500 Ecodiesel's MPG), but I feel as if it's a downgrade going from a 6.4 F250 to a 3.0L F150, even if it is a newer truck. I don't tow heavy (6-7k at the most) but I also plan on keeping the truck for a while since I'm buying it brand new, so I could possibly tow heavier in the future.
My main argument against the 3.0L is the completely untested drivetrain. Coming from an early model 6.4 I would like to avoid the same type of teething issues that most early models of vehicles have, but I also feel the 6.7 is overkill for what I need.

I own/drive a 2016 F-250 CCSB 4x4 XLT 6.7L as my daily (and only) driver. I don't tow anything with it, so yes it could be argued this vehicle is an overkill for me. I......however, am also a Ford dealership technician so I don't incur nearly the same costs as anyone else would, owning this same vehicle.

Agree with Sterling. The 6.7 is proven drivetrain. Daddy always said don't buy any vehicle the first year it comes out and I have seen plenty of examples where the bugs don't show for at least a year or longer.
BIG difference in payload ability obviously. If you think you are ever going to go heavier that what you do now go with the F350. Better to have too much truck that not enough.
