Question Lund einterceptor bug shield

I just purchased a Lund Interceptor bug shield via the internet for my 2003 Ranger XLT. I thought it would be simple to attach to the hood. Howerer, the instructions call for drilling 4 holes in the hood and attaching the shiel with screws. I'm not too thrilled about drilling holes in my new truck. i can just see mysel drilling hole in the wrong place and ruining the hood. Is there an alternate way that it can be attached to the hood. I tried emailing Lund but have yet to receive a reply from them.

One method to install it:

Get someone to help you hold the shield in place and then mark the "drill spots" with a felt pen (Sharpie, etc.). That way you will be 100% sure that where you drill is the right spot.

Note: There is some (small) room for (positioning) adjustment of the shield if you are holding it where you want it (on the hood) and mark the exact center of the holes on the shield.

I also used some masking tape as a drill stop (wrapped around the drill bit) - so that the bit just went through the sheet metal.

If the screws that Lund furnish do not have any "blue Locktite" on them, I recommend that you put some on them to keep them from backing out over time.

That is how I installed mine and I am completely happy with it.

Good luck!

I hear you....but it just seem to me that in this day and age when they can hold an airplane together with adhesive that there must me an alternate method that use a high strength double side foam tape. I just don't want to drill holes in a perfectly good new hood
