I added the 2wd front valance today, does anyone know if the two steel brackets on the bottom of each frame rail can be removed? They are bolted on and I don't really see a use for them.

Yes they can be removed.. Those are crash bars to keep cars from going under the truck..

Took the new kayak out for a short trip. Love the hullivator rack, loading a kayak has never been easier.

Durst - they can be removed, just be aware they do serve an important purpose for small car occupants. They keep them from going completely under you.

Interesting...

I use a stake pocket rack to carry my kayaks (up to 3).

I guess it was a short trip; no bow/stern lines.

How does that attach to the roof?

It's a Lund-Aeroskin, Ford brand VHC3Z-16C900-C Deflector. uses the 3M tape to attach.

Looks great...notice any strange turbulence at the base of the windshield at highway speed? Last one I had caused my wipers to lift up at 70-75 mph. Ended up taking it off.

Thanks. no turbulence that i noticed, don't think it will deflect much probably more to protect the front of the hood from rock chips. It attaches at the top as well as the bottom with the 3M tape and it sits below the top of the hood.

it works! just grab an old/used dryer sheet...you don't need to use a new one.
dip the dryer sheet in the soapy water when you wash your truck and lightly rub it across the bugs splattered parts....the bugs come off very easily.

its an old RV'ers trick and I've been using it myself on all our cars and motor coach w/out any damage.
