Lightbulb Auto to Manual?? Possible/less costly?

I have a C-6 tranny, today i think she finally gave in on me...
A month ago, i had filter and modulator replaced, the mech. said
this should buy u some time.. which ran out today,
Reverse works, Drive does nothing, where before u had to rev
motor to take off.. so i am pretty confident iam looking at an
over hall, $$$$..
BUT, just for the heck of it, I was curious to know the trouble,
expense, etc. of going to a manual trans.. no, i havent hit my head
i am just looking into options.. am i spinning my wheels here or do I just need to suck it up and do an overhall???

having the c-6 will cost much less then swappin in a man. tranny. with what you'll shell out just for a good or rebuilt manaul tranny you'll have spent less having the c-6 rebuilt. prices on a manaul tranny can range from $300 to $1000 depending which ya want. Thats not counting the price of the brackets and such you'll need to. i had my c-6 rebuilt for $250

I have gone from auto to manual twice in different trucks. I just hate automatics.

Figured it would be less costly to stay auto, 250.00 sounds pretty reasonable, i guess where u got it done is kinda out of the question, but what all was done for that amount..?
I know iam looking at replacing seals at least.. and the guy i will
use i hear is good an honest at trannies.. thanks for the advice and any more u can share..
Also noticed that vacuum "branch" at manifold is a little loose, I
can turn by hand, however i cant tighten it as it sets.. It will hit
electrical part just below it, "bell shaped". could this be adding to my trans problems?, There was no fluid in vacuum hose at modulator or vac branch and there is a loop at branch at manifold.
Thanks again... Also, where is a good place to get an over hall kit if needed?????

Auto to Manual?? Possible/less costly?

check out AdvanceAuto's rebuilt trannies. I looked for one about a year ago. A c6 was about 350 bucks with the core and came with a 15 month, 15,000 mile warranty.

That was a complete rebuild with shift added. I could tell where i had it done, But by the time ya Sent it from TN to TX to get rebuilt and back to TN you could build a 100% bullet poroof Tranny on shipping cost. It came with a 1 year or 15,000 Mile warranty or I could of added extra. I figured if my tranny was gonna go it'd gone well before that since It gets hard offroad use. That was 2 yrs ago and it's still goin strong. Most wanted $400 to $600 to rebuild it, So i grabbed the phone and started callin til i found them.
