I found out some time ago that our trucks have a splined slip joint in the drive line behind the transmission that clunks because Ford didn't use enough of the special blue lube that is a shock absorber for the drive shaft. I relubed mine but the clunk was in the tranny.
The Ujoint is tight and after lubing so is the slip joint. The clunk is inside of the tranny tail shaft. Can roll the drive shaft back and forth and hear it. Been like that ever since I've had it.
That is possible but I've heard the same noise in the big trucks that I've driven. So I've blown it off as not being a problem. Just sounds like a big truck. LOL
