Congratulations! You should post some pics for us.. Look over some of this info. The Factory Ford manuals are much better then anything you will get at one of the parts stores..

Here is an set of paperback manuals that include the EVTM at a decient price. The add says:
THE COMPLETE TRUCK EXCEPT COMPLETE WIRING DIAGRAMS EMISSIONS DIAGNOSIS. The books are much easier to use then the CD’s but you would still need the Emissions Diagnosis. I have the complete wiring diagram for my 88 but have not needed it yet. Better to have it and not need it then to need it wand not have it!

I didn’t see a 1998 wiring diagram and don’t know how different the 96 would be but here is a 96. Maybe someone here on the forum can help with that.

You didn’t say wither it is a diesel engine or not but this is for the gas engine..

I did not see a manual on CD either. They are normally much cheaper then the books and include the EVTM and emissions diagnosis. i think normally around $30
You might contact these people from ebay and ask if they know where you can get a CD. I bought my 85 and 88 CD's from them.
