I turned the P/M feature off several years ago, as I was being pestered with dozens of parts requests per week.

I turned the email feature off a month ago. I got an email from a newbie FTE member, when I responded to it, my computer crashed.

Back on this thread!!! I currently have 4 wheels that came on my truck. I am leaving it stock with the original patina if possible.

I have:
(2) 7.10-15" (smooth sides and thin white wall stripes)
(2) 6.5-16" (pie crust sides and thicker white walls)

Would it be better to go with 4 of the 15" or 16". It will not be hauling anything and I am wanting a matched set. I would like to get used 48 hubcaps also if they would fit. I am willing to trade 2 for 2 or purchase. I am just really wanting something that looks a little older, and matches one of these. Thanks

Sorry I didn’t make that clear. I plan on buying four new tires to either match 15 inch rims, or 16 inch rims. Those tires definitely need to go.

Yeah, you can eliminate the ones in pics one and two right away because of the “outie” hub cap mountings. Next, no 1948 F-1 came purely stock with one piece 15” “innie” wheels. There were special equipment/aftermarket 15s available, but that’s a long conversation that I’ll not go into.

So that leaves you the two 16” wheels that are probably the OEM 16” x 4.5” Ford 8C 1015s. They can be found used, or reproductions are available from places like Wheel Vintiques. Stu

Thanks for your help. I will actively search for some matching 16” rims to those, as well as hubcaps to fit. Any tire size recommendations ?

The widest original option was a 6.50-16”. Stu

Can anyone tell me what years/models may have also used the same wheel as a 1948 Ford F1 (16” x 4.5” Ford 8C 1015s) I am going to a wrecking yard and was hoping to give a few other vehicles some looks to see if I can find some matches

The 8C 1015 / K-H 31283 / NWRA cross code X-40096 was used by Ford through 1966 on half tons. No other make or model is shown using X-40096. In your yard searches be aware that earlier 1940s era car and some truck wheels look the same but are narrower. They are 16” x 4.00”. Same innie hub cap mounting. Stu

Well throughout the summer I was able to finally get (4) 16" rims and 4 matching really nice hubcabs, now onto tires. Currently I have 6.5-16" tires on a few of these, but definitely need new tires. I am leaving it pretty stock, and do not have any crazy lowering situation going on. Can someone recommend a radial tire size that fits these rims and won't have any steering issues. I have looked at everything from 165-235 and I just want to get something that will fit and isn't crazy Coker pricing. thanks
