I'm on my 4th CCLB truck and wouldn't consider anything else. IMHO a truck doesn't look right of the cab is larger than the bed, unless it's a 6 door then it looks great no matter what!!

I have found it hard to sleep in a short bed. I can really stretch out in the long bed.

We have a SCSB, CCSB, and GMC SCLB on the farm. Out of all the vehicles, the SCSB is the easiest to maneuver, fit into parking spaces, drive-thru's etc. The hardest is the GMC. There are some parking lots where the CCSB and the SCLB simply won't fit.

Ideally, you buy the truck that fits the work you want it do. When it comes time to park it, you'll figure something out.

I don't need an 8 ft box and personally don't care for how long the truck looks with them. Different strokes for different folks.

I also drove an '09 F150 with the 5.5 box before buying my 2017 super duty. Personally, I find the long box rides a lot nicer and is a little cumbersome in parking lots. I ended up with a F450, which turns very sharp, but is still long. After a week of driving it, it feels perfectly natural - I don't even think about the length or dually width except for a little slower and more care when parking. Bottom line, I recommend the long bed.

BTW, if you drive 30 minutes and take 30 seconds to park, you get a nicer ride 98% of the time you are in the truck at the expense of it being a little harder to park 2% of the time you are in the truck.

I've had both, my opinion is this; if you can't come up with a concrete reason to buy a short bed then don't. Long bed is my 'default position'.

The short beds look great and are better off-road, if that's a consideration. I don't mind the look of the CCLB SRW, but the CCLB looks perfect on a dually.

Long bed for me. The longer bed and the bigger fuel tank are worth it and you will get used to parking it before long.

Totally jealous. My 2002 F-150 quit fitting in my garage the day I put up 1/2" sheet rock on the back wall. 250 won't even fit under the garage door!

Do you drive that long bed in a big city? Or try to park it in a parking deck?

I park in a parking garage every day - no problems. It just sticks out 3' more than the rest.

I would've purchased a long bed if it wasn't for the parking lot at my work. Parking is hard to find, space is limited, and I just don't trust other people. My coworkers long bed just got hit the other day. His truck sticks out significantly further than most of the other guys around here.

My next truck will be a crew cab long bed just for being able to haul a full sheet of plywood. It will also have a fiberglass cap. Thankfully my garage is long enough to fit a 03 F150 super crew and a 04 Ram 2500 super crew short bed back to back.

In that case, a crew long-bed will just fit!

IMO the long bed provides is worth the increased fuel tank / capacity alone.

Hell I've got a 2004 (long bed) and ADDED an in bed 50 gal ATTA tank....90 Gallons lets you pick and choose your per gallon price and it really helps on the LONG trips.

With the Long bed I can have an option of (adding more fuel) and STILL having more payload capacity then a short bed has.

Basically I can put a motorcycle (and camping gear) In the bed AND still close the gate...even WITH a the fuel tank.

I also believe that the longer wheel base reduces the harshness of the ride.

Thanks for all the responses folks. Tomorrow is the big day when I have to make the big decision. I'm still leaning long bed as most of the arguments have convinced me the fuel capacity and ride quality are worth it. I must admit, I'm still thinking I'd see a little difference in maneuverability with the short bed though. Any last minute thoughts?

Thanks!
