New owner 62 stepside
Hello
Co-worker of mine had this truck and I've always like it. Never wanted to
sell her until now. I asked a the right time, as his son is getting married
and he needed the cash.Got a killer deal on it.
Never owned a older classic car but I'm doing my research. I thought all
were unibody ( wikipidia ) obviously this one is not since the stepside bed can be removed. Was told it was re-wired for 12v not sure if they were 6v before. It's v8 manual on the column, never drove a manual this way, but i've gotten used to it. I plan on keeping less than a year and then selling it.
I don plan of fixing a few things here and there.
thank you all. Im in the valley, Los Angeles CA.

My understanding is that the flare side (Ford vernacular for the "step side") and the 4x4 trucks were the only non-unibody platforms of the 61-63 years. Also read somewhere else they converted to 12v in the mid-50's. Somebody else with more knowledge than myself may chime in.
Looks like a nice truck. Curious as to why you're only planning on owning for a limited time? Have you something else in mind?

since I got a killer deal on it, I saw it as an investment. Considering I own
4 other vehicles. My 15 year daughter loves it, and she wants it!!
considering my other 3 sons were so much into it.
I am getting looks when I drive it, so I may reconsider it. The bed on this
truck is wood, planning on resanding and staining it to weather proof it a bit.

There is a lot to like and/or love about vintage vehicles, but it seems to be personal for different reasons depending on who you talk to. My Uncle was really into Fords when I was a kid. As I got older it occurred to me that other manufacturers build cool stuff too, but my affinity for Fords never really went away. Now I own 3.

so, since you can really see the rear bumper.
I've see son photos online with that exact bumper, so I don't know
what the original would look like.

theyre giving you a hard time about the bumper because it looks to be a Chevy truck bumper mounted upside down. Looks nothing like the original.
