I just got off the phone with Tim Meyer, who said he is going to deliver the engine for Dad's truck on ....................... SEPTEMBER 16TH! Yep, he's planning on coming to the GTG, both this year and next, and is planning to bring some of his goodies - including his brand new Cleveland block.

I can hear that voice on the radio now - BE THERE!!!!

 

Great news, Gary! Hmmm, the mighty 4.9L is similar to a 400, minus 2 cylinders... maybe Tim can have another direction to follow!

Ford had prototypes to improve the performance, but they never had the chance to be brought to market. I will stop now so the hijack can be ended. Back to the regularly scheduled thread topic.

 

Well, things are changing rapidly on the GTG front. Talked with a friend of my while we put a 1981 power steering bracket off Dad's truck on his 351M'd 1978 F100. He runs a welding supply house and had just re-welded my drawbar seriously - wow is he good. Anyway, here are the changes we've come up with:

• The actual GTG will be held at the Skiatook Church of Christ
• We will have a truck show. I know there's to be a 2017 SuperDuty there, and I can take my three. And Paul with his diesel'd Bullnose, and Cash with Carlos, and David with his '86, and....
• Welding: My friend will host a welding seminar, with welding demos, cutting demos and competition, and Miller is supposed to be there with things to show
• Tim Meyer will bring some goodies to show as well as tell people what his shop is all about and hold a Q&A
• We will have a swap meet, so bring your goodies to sell/swap
• My paint/body man will be there and maybe he can bring some of his work to show - in addition to Dad's truck
• And we may even have a concessions stand

But, nothing is in concrete yet. So, if you can think of additional things to do, or changes to what we have planned, please let me know. We want to use this year's GTG as a springboard to next. And, having never done anything of this magnitude I can use the HELP!

im planning on it, I might even get the old truck cleaned up. I'm just so tied up with work, kids, and racing I don't even know what my schedule will be at that time yet

Do you know if someone might show up that can maybe/possibly solder a leak in an a/c condenser? It's not my Ranger, but my '69 Thunderbird. One of the. Tunes almost right in the center has sprung a leak. Been driving it around forever it seems like with no a/c.
