Underhood air deflector- 6 cylinder

I'm needing a 6 cylinder air deflector for a '51... does anybody repop these, or is there anyone out there that has one in decent condition that they would sell?

Thanks- Bear

Do you mean the one that covers the front of the exhaust manifold? P/n 7HW9437 "Baffle assy. manifold air". Used on F-3 parcel delivery, F-5 and F-6 COE's 1948 - 1951. Used with both "H" and "M" engines. P/n 8HA9437 "Baffle assy. manifold air", used on everything else '48 - '51 except F-7, F-8.(From my old Ford book).

You can also contact Chuck's Trucks, highly recommended.

No, I need the one that mounts under the hood and seals against the front of the radiator.

Air deflector

I need one as well. They are hard to find used but I believe that LMC Truck sells them new - but they are expensive ( $150 I think).

Air Deflector

Just checked - LMC Truck has the V-8 deflector for around $60 but no listing for the 6 cylinder deflector.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks

Out of curiosity, why would the six cyl. version be different from the V-8 version since it is located in front of the radiator, and all other parts being equal?

The width of the hood tapers towards the nose. The entire radiator position including the air deflector is a couple inches farther forward on the 6 cyl. trucks and the matching deflector is narrower to fit.

Dan I have one 4 you it could be for a V8 I could not see any difference between them so it could be the 6 I will put the two side by side and see
[I]I think this from a 6[/I
Just measured the V8 is longer that pic is not a 6 but a v8

Since the V8 piece is wider couldn't you just cut some metal out and section it to make it narrower?

Hood deflector

Thanks Roy

I'll take it if it is a 6 or 8 deflector.

Dave is right - it can be modified to fit for the 6 cylinder position. A little more work but doable.

Thanks Dave for the suggestion.

Take care

I have one for you if the shipping from CA isn't too bad. My hood got pretty wrecked by mice (nests = pee = rust) but the deflector is fine. Just PM me and I'll try to get you going.

That's generous, thanks.
682bear has first shot.
Since Roy has one for me, I'll let him have first shot.
Thanks for the offer.

The six cylinder air deflectors are stamped with a letter H on one side on the part that fits along side the radiator. The V8 deflector is stamped with a letter R in the same place.

Hood deflector

Thanks
Going to Roy's house tomorrow.
Will check the numbers to see if it's a 6 or 8 cylinder deflector.
Good information to have.
Take care
Dan
