You were some busy bees. That is a fair amount of powder. How many do you roll out of a pound of powder??

We managed to fill one complete .50 caliber ammo can with 24 dozen cartridges. put another 9 dozen cartridges in a 3rd ammo can.

Comes out to about 400 paper cartridges. That is 100 grains of powder so it goes a bit quicker.

So about 70 per pound.. Since there is 7000 grains in a pound.. Smokeless sure goes farther.. Of course some rifle cartridges get a goodly amount of powder..

These are blanks so we use 100 grains per cartridge. If it was a live round then it would be about 75 grains of powder per cartridge.

For the blanks we found that 100 grains gives us enough smoke and noise. As for a live round we need that much to get a 550 grain lead ball down range.

That sounds about right.. I kind of wish I still had my 45/70.. So I could throw some 500 grain slugs down range..

It is fun to do that for sure. Sadly with the muskets accuracy is not their forte.
