Which gauge? The factory gauges were already hooked up. It appears that the previously mentioned indicated low oil pressure was due to poor electrical connection at the oil pressure sending unit.

I finally got around to start the leaf spring replacement process. I was driving around on a single leaf on the driver's rear (albeit very gingerly) for many months.

I've replaced the springs on my skunk before, and this time is no easier.

This is where I gave up on Saturday. What a PITA.

Good 2" sag.

The nut is cut off the rear hanger bolt. Not budging. Next step in mind is to get a proper sawzall blade to try to cut the bolt next to the spring eye.

While attempting to cut the front bolt with a sawzall, I unwittingly started slicing the hanger. So off with the hanger. the rivet and bolt heads were cut when I left it but more persuasion was needed. My dad reportedly got the front hanger off after I left.

I was lucky when I stripped my 2 trucks apart mine came apart easily but I did spray them down for 2 weeks every other day.

Well it's progress. Time to order more parts than I planned.

After an abrupt job change, today I finally got the new leaf on. Rusty came home after hanging in the air for 4+ months!

It went together pretty easily. Now I have a brake line drip at the divider / vent block on the rear end. Don't really know how to deal with that...

Looks good now you can load it up with fire wood.

Saturday I talked my dad into going to a men's mass and breakfast with me. He drove Rusty on the way back to his house. Its been many years since he last drove it. It was a fun time.

My youngest is rather fond of it now too. 😁

Great story. Is that an after-market cover or did you make it? I'm looking for one for my 83.

Thanks!
It's an aftermarket saddle blanket type . I found it on Amazon. I'm happy with the quality and only about $40. Several colors to choose from.

I found out over the weekend that these seat covers do not hold up well against the bottoms of kid car seats. 😢😭
I now have a slice in my new cover on the passenger side. I should have put something between them.

Rusty got a nose job yesterday.

I was given the cattle guard by a friend. I think it's very fitting that one of the rubber bumpers is missing.
I was also able to replace my broken hub **** on the pass. side with an appropriately faded replacement from this friend's stash. 👍👍

I also have and old stainless toolbox in the bed now.

Nice! I have a similar beat up old toolbox in the back of my '83. I wish I could find a sweet grille guard like that too... Maybe I'll get lucky at a junkyard or something. Glad you're keeping the truck on the road

Update on the seat cover: It's total rubbish. Stay off Amazon I guess. I found this rip at the top of the seat. Nothing rubs there. Utter garbage.
