ignition switch?
I can crank my truck, but not put it in gear (actually if I turn my key about a fourth turn b/w off and on, I can put it in nuetrel, then crank it, then put it in gear) any ideas, do I need to replace the whole key cylinder, and how hard would that be? THanks...

I'm going to make a stab in the dark. Sometimes it's the simple things in life that gets us down........ If the brake light fuse is blown, you can not shift out of park. Also theirs a "thing of a bob" (sorry don't remember the name), on the mastercylinder that can short out and cause the blown fuse.

Try tilting the wheel to diff. positions. My 87 got so stiff you couldn't turn it off!
I took the column apart to a small rack & pinion set up connected to the lock cyl. which was very worn and binding. I managed to fab. a shim & revive operation.

Sounds like a short somewhere. Could be that "thing of a bob" i ref. above (master cylinder sending unit?. Look close to the master cylinder where the wires are and check for short. Also check brake light switch - older one's have them close to the brake pedal so when it (pedal) is depressed the switch turns on the lights - not sure about newer ones.
