Building a 351W for propane

hello group!

It's been something that i have wanted to do for years, im finally going to make a big push to have a truck that runs on propane. I actually want to have several, but i have decided to try it on one truck first, and then see how it fares.

Regardless, the test mule is going to be a 1989 F150 2wd with a very tired 302 and a 5 speed manual. i plan on having a 351W rebuilt for the truck and installed over the coming winter. So now, as i set up plans, i will ask,: what, if anything should be done to benefit from running propane? do i need to raise or lower compression? step up to a forged piston? any different head work, or other work needed to the long block?

My plan is to drive primarily on propane, but still retain a single tank and be able to still run gasoline in a pinch.

Thank you for your input.

Set it up like you are running high octane fuel. Hardened valves and seats help a lot . But most unleaded motors already have therm to a certain extent. Be aware to get it to run the best on LP it will knock on gasoline, Most bi-fuel motors are set up as a compromise so they can run both.

Good luck
