Back to normal

MY TRUCK IS BACK TO NORMAL!!! My 1992 F-150 5.0 engine/ manual transmission is back working like it should. The problems I was having are like so many others on this forum, and maybe something I've done to fix it can be used by others ----WARNING---this is a long post. I replaced both fuel pumps to cure a failure on the rear pump and an intermittent operation on the front pump. It worked good for about a week, then it wouldn't take any throttle on the front pump---the rear pump would operate fine. Then, after about a week, it wouldn't run on either pump. "Professional" mechanics at a garage found a very defective fuel requlator (measured 90 psi at the rails). Within a day after I got the truck back, it would run good until it got hot, then the idle would increase to about 2500-3000 RPM for about 3 minutes, then it would go back to idle for about five minutes, then the cycle woul repeat. I replaced the Oxygen sensor (helped a little), cleaned, then replaced the IAC (helped a little), replaced the TPS (helped a little), disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes (helped a little), checked the timing (with and without the SPOUT disconnected)---during this time I prayed to God for him to work through me to fix this truck. My prayers were answered in a way I never counted on. I found a small plastic vacuum line going to the defroster solenoid that had deteriorated and come apart. I spliced the line and found the truck now runs better than it has in the past two years. I drove the truck almost all day, and have had no recurrance of the problem. To God be the glory!
